Date of construction of the first buildings, under the name of Manoir de Bièville. Normandy was at the time on the front line in the war between the Crown of England and the Kingdom of France during the so-called Hundred Years' War.
In 1463, the Manor became the property of Anne de Chastel, who inherited the estate. It remained in the family until the end of the 17th century. In 1710, the daughter of the Lord of Bièville married Jean Antoine de Costard, Lord of La Rançonnière, thus giving her name to the estate.
The entire Manor was then rebuilt. Only the tower was preserved, and even today one can admire the trompe-l'œil murals depicting a gigantic dovecote.
On June 15, 1927, the porch was listed in the supplementary inventory of historical buildings, and on November 5, 1970, the Manor's facades and roofs were also added.
World War II. The Rançonnière farm was requisitioned by the German army and became a German military camp. Surrounded by flat fields, it was converted into an airbase.
On June 6, 1944, the village of Crépon was liberated due to its proximity to the beaches of Arromanches. The Rançonnière farm gradually resumed its normal operations.
In July 1967, the bed and breakfast business began tentatively when a Belgian tourist couple broke down in front of the building. Unable to find a room in a local hotel, the owner at the time offered them a place to stay and a meal for the evening.
They were the first guests of La Rançonnière, the first of a long line that continues to this day.
