Giverny

American art museum at Giverny

One century ago, a colony American artists (Cassatt, Cabot Perry, Metcalf) arrived at Giverny (the Eure) at Claude Monet to improve their impressionist techniques. Since 1992, the Museum pays homage, through temporary exposures, the bonds which link French and American art. Single place devoted to American art in France, the Museum present of the tables which cover one period going from 1750 to our days.   Dewing_s_Madelaine

Claude Monet's house and garden

It is here that the painter Claude Monet, founder of the impressionist movement, lived during 43 years. The gardens of its house, the village and the neighbourhoods of Giverny were its models and still attract, each year, a half-million visitors of the whole world, as well as the painters allured by the so particular light of the valley of the Seine. But the resources of this small corner of Normandy do not stop there. Rich person of a history which goes up with paleolithic, the area abounds in archeological sites, prestigious castles, mysterious mills, marvellous gardens and rich museums.   bord de l eau C.monet
